Did you know that cavemen didn’t have cancer? They didn’t have heart disease either. Nor did they have diabetes. They didn’t even have tooth decay! Yeah, I didn’t know that shit either. My first question was, “How do ‘they’ know?” But they know.

This isn’t a book about archeology or anthropology, so you’ll have to look up that research on your own, you lazy bastards. This is a book on how what many people perceive to be a “fad” diet transformed me into a healthy, skinny, ripped human machine, without much exercise at all.

“Too good to be true,” you ask? “What’s this jerk-wad trying to sell me? What do I have to do, read his book, and then buy the diet plan (sold separately) to get his secret? What a rip-off artist!”

Nope, nothing to buy (except this book, you cheap bastards) because I found the diet all by myself on the Internet, free of charge! There are several books out there on the Caveman Diet, also known as the Paleo Diet, but it’s so simple (a caveman could do it), and there’s so much info out there, I think those books are a rip-off. Now my next cookbook, that’s a different story altogether! Get those credit cards ready, you fat bastards, I’ve already started on my second book!

You’re about to read how I, a lowly Emmy Award-winning writer/producer/voice actor/director, accidentally stumbled upon the Caveman Diet, and how it transformed my body, my mind, and my spirit, and in doing so alienated me from almost everyone! It limited the ingredients I could eat yet sparked my creativity and made me into a pretty amazing cook, if I do say so myself (’cause I certainly wasn’t when I started).

Healthy eating and dieting does not mean deprivation. I promise you, if I can do this, anyone can do this. It just takes a commitment to change for the better. I am in the best shape of my life, rarely exercise, and I eat LIKE A KING!

This was a fun read. Jeff Nimoy uses a humorous approach to introduce the reader to the paleo diet, describing his successes as well as some misadventures in the kitchen. He advocates eating "all organic, all the time" but at the same time is practical about the fact that it isn't always possible to do 100% of the time. He notes that even if you allow for a cheat meal now and then, you'll still be way ahead of the game. Some of my favorite recipes include Curry Chicken over Cauliflower Rice, Paleo Pappardelle Pasta and Italian Sausage (or Shrimp!) Fra Diavolo. And I now make "fauxghetti" noodles at least once a week, putting the recommended Spirooli to good use. A final note: One of the things that I really like about the book is that he encourages you to experiment with the ingredients you use. You'll see that exact quantities of each item are often left to you to decide-- Make it to your own taste and enjoy!

In a time when the FDA won't allow GMO foods to be labeled in the US and we are no longer certain of what we're eating, Jeff Nimoy puts out a cookbook that takes us back to basics....way back ... to a time when man hunted and gathered for food and ate organically and instinctually, not supplementally and addictively. Although he's not killing anything with a spear, it seems Nimoy practices what he preaches his own return to primal eating has him enjoying a revved metabolism, smaller waistline, improved health and he manages to serve each dish with a side of humor . This one's staying in my iPad. Thanks CAVEMAN!
Add the miracle noodles instead of the zucchini for the pasta and still losing the weight. Great book, funny writer

Nimoy is a funny writer whose text is as light as his recipes. I've seen great changes from following this diet; both weight loss and better health/energy.
i thought the recipes would be hard, but they're all pretty simple. and they all genuinely taste great! this is a terrific book.
Going Paleo has been fun and very helpful when dealing with Diabetes Blood Sugar #'s...I am using less and less Insulin which in turn helps with Cholesterol levels...Thank you Jeff for writing this book...a fun read as well!!!
I found this book to be very informative and I liked the author's casual manner of writing and explantion. The recipes sound great. I just recently got a Spirooli and am looking forward to cooking up some yummy sauce to top some zucchini pasta.
Reading diet books is just SO boring right? That is not the case when Jeff Nimoy inserts his sense of humor to keep the text from being dry. Not only does he give tips as to how to keep a paleo diet from eating humdrum, he also provides some interesting recipes.
This book is a great compliment to The Ultimate Paleo Diet Melt the Fats, Lose Weight & Get Lean in 2 Weeksand will help expand your meal options within the strict paleo diet.
